Driving from Almaty to Kyzylorda

Is the road, border or area open and accessible to foreigners? Is there danger?

Driving from Almaty to Kyzylorda

Post by tomhannen »

Hi,
Is it possible to drive from Almaty to Kyzylorda without having to travel through Baikonur? I have read that Baikonur is technically Russian territory, and we will not have a Russian visa, only a Kazakh one. Is this true?
Many thanks,
Tom

This is not a problem. You need to turn off the road to go to Baikonur. The main road just passes by.
