Road Khorog -Ishkashim - Murgab closed - does anyone have detailed info?

Hi Community,

we are receiving info that the southern route from Khorog via Ishkashim to Murgab is closed at the moment. Does anyone have info why it is closed and for how long approximately?

You could try contacting PECTA, as they should know.

Alternatively, the FOCUS humanitarian group publishes (or used to) a daily situation report on the GBAO region, and this infor was very helpful a couple of years ago when roads were similarly washed out. The Pamir Lodge used to repost this on their facebook page, but they stopped doing so. This information is a bit dated, but if you email [email protected] you may be able to get yourself added to the distribution list to the situation report (if it still exists).

In the hubb was a word about a hard winter in the Pamirs (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb/n ... amir-91406). So probably the Khargush pass is still in snow?

Contacted the Pecta and right away got the following answer:

Since 3 days now the road which connects Wakhan and the Pamir Highway is open. It was closed due to snowfall. 

When you drive from Langar to M41 via Khargush pass it is sandy in the beginning (7-11km). I guess it is not a problem for motorbikes. However it is tough if you cycle this part of the road.
