Kazakhstan Embassy report: visa in Ulan Bator

Post by BattlePanda »

The KZ embassy is open Mon Tue, Thu and Fri. You can submit paperwork from 10-12 and collection is between 16-18. Two NZ travellers plus our own motorcycle dropped off forms on Tuesday, collected the following Tuesday. You may be able to get it faster - we think the embassy was closed for a couple of days around the Mongolian election. There's two forms to complete and you need some sort of itinerary. You pay at the Golomt Bank around the corner. There's a bit of back and forth, so it would pay to get to the embassy early so you don't have to run to the bank and back (as we did). Staff are helpful enough... but they told us it was dangerous to ride a motorcycle in Kazakhstan and we shouldn't go :'(

Kazakhstan Embassy in UB/Ulaanbaatar

Post by melroberts24 »

Got our Kazakhstan visas today (Thurs) after completing all application paperwork and submitting Tuesday. Closed Wednesdays. Information supplied states applications received 10-12pm and visas to be picked up 4-6pm. A brief phone call to the embassy resulted in an invitation to attend and submit our forms in the afternoon timeslot.

Very nice guys we dealt with. Wanted application form (available online), passport, single photo, letter with basic info about our trip and US$30 deposited into Golomt Bank. As we are traveling with motorcycles, they requested copies of our drivers licenses, registration papers and bike details (model and registration plate).

We are Australians. The current address of the embassy is Zaisan Road - it is in fact down a side street off Zaisan. At intersection of Zaisan and Chinggis Ave, heading south, take the forth side street to the right. You will see the blue Kazakh flag immediately on the right.
